Honey, I'm home

Thu Mar 27, 2008, 7:10 PM
After a long (nearly two year) lapse of regularly available internet, I'm finally crawling my way back out of the stone age. Yep, that's right, I finally got a laptop. Guess what kids? Soon you'll be seeing more of me.

Unfortunately I've been creatively lacking these days. I am now a manager at a portrait studio in Queens, NY and sadly that takes up an insane amount of my time. I work 6 days a week, morning until evening. Luckily I have a somewhat creative outlet at my job, but I always find myself burnt out at the end of the day. I wish I could say I had hundreds of photos to submit but for the past 5 months I've been on an artistic delay. I'm hoping to find inspiration soon. It comes in waves sometimes. Let's hope the next one lasts.

I've missed you all, and can't wait to catch up on so many wonderfully talented artists gallery's.

Xoxo.

Why bother flaming?

Thu Sep 13, 2007, 10:06 AM
Someone recently came onto my page and flamed some of my pictures. I don't understand why some assholes feel the need to go onto someones page and find reasons to harass them. It's not even like the comments made were all in one sitting, he decided to keep coming back to my page and continue this. I thought I was well past being accused of being anorexic, apparently that is not the case. If you don't like someones work, appearance, or point of view why comment and make rude remarks? If you can't say anything nice, why say anything at all? Why initiate something that doesn't really achieve anything?

I don't understand people sometimes.

New York, New York---Mugged.. already.

Welp, that's that. I've moved into New York at long last. I'm staying with my cousin Nina right now in Brooklyn, but I desperately need to get a new place. I'm taking over the whole apartment with all my things. I guess I'll find a studio apartment or something, that doesn't sound so bad. I transferred within my company to Queens. I already am totally home sick for my friends. I'm gonna be around the internet for a while, so expect an (at least slight) increase in activity. Can't wait to take pictures all over the town.

Who's around NY? Photo session anyone? That'd be killer

It's been a hell of an adventure the past 10 days. Rained when we moved my stuff into Ninas place. I found a place of my own and moved in on Sunday, and it rained. I started work on Tuesday, my phone died during the night so I had find a place to buy a phone (in the rain) to pay $70 to get a new one, so I wouldn't be lost or stranded some place with no way to contact anyone. I've lost my keys, gotten stranded until early hours on the subway, by myself. And the topper on the cake is Sunday night I was walking home, alone (yeah I've heard it a thousand times, I shouldn't do ANYTHING at night alone) and a man snuck up behind me, started running and grabbed my purse I held on tight but that got me dragged across the street kicking and screaming. Luckily, I have a hell of a good grip, and a gardian angel. A man named Able (whom I had never met until that night) heard me scream and yelled at the guy and started running over. Thankfully the mugger let go of my purse and ran off..to his freakin get away car that was waiting for him. The man walked me home and comforted me, told me that he never walked that way but just felt like he shoul that night. My purse is ripped to shreds and nothing is gone, but thats not nearly all the damage that was done. My middle finger and my knuckles swelled up extremely within a couple of minutes. I took the bus back to Maryland yesterday, and went to the doctor today. I have a spiral fracture in my middle finger, and I'll have to see a specialist on Thursday, and they might not be able to do anything that day if the swelling doesn't dramatically decrease. It's possible it'll require surgery as well. Ugh. I have road rash on my arms, bruises all over and a slightly sprained knee.

Welcome to the city babe, we know how to play.

Finally, some good news.

Fri May 11, 2007, 1:59 AM
Thank you everyone who helped donating for my new camera, I appreciate it more than typed words can say. I don't have a lot of time on the internet very often any more but soon I'll hijack a friends computer for a couple hours and really get into everything. I miss the art world, it's hard not having the art community around me whenever I wanted or needed it; the inspiration and admiration of new work. But you're here for the good news right?

I got a new camera! It's not all that I wanted but it will satisfy me for now. I had been planning to save up for a really nice camera but that looks to be set back for a bit. I ended up getting a Canon Digital Rebel XT, a step up from my last. I forwarded all the money that was donated for my mom, and she is paying the rest until I can pay it off. Luckily I am getting a tax refund that I didn't anticipate that will cover the rest.

I can't thank you all enough.

I am glad to say I'm going to be taking a couple of photography classes at a local community college to complete my portfolio for applications. I can't wait to apply to FIT.

XOXO.

Stolen..

Sun Apr 1, 2007, 4:31 PM
The worst thing that could possible happen, happened. My camera got stolen.
My heart, soul.. my baby...gone!

The charger, the camera (with 1GB memory card) and a backpack were stolen from my house last night and I am absolutely broke. Now I have no way to take pictures, and unfortunatly I took 200 studio pictures of friends and couples last night and they are all gone. I was so proud of them. Finally more postable work, advertisement, and art is gone. I was going to burn them onto a cd and find a computer to upload them onto my websites and everything. I want to be active. Damnit! Ugh.

I'm absolutely heartbroken; sobbing all day.
What a cruel April Fools prank.

If anyone could make any donation, a dollar or two, anything I'd be unbelievably greatful. I have a paypal account under the email KimberlyDiann_photo@yahoo.com. If you can send me $10 or more I can send you a print of your choice. ; I'll be posting new work sooner or later. At least I got some good pictures in the mean while.
